About this Service
Our Online Doctor Service gives you a safe and efficient way to get your medicines.
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, people may need to self-isolate or restrict their movements. This service lets you have your prescription dispensed and delivered to you or have it dispensed and ready for collection in the chemist.
Standard Prescriptions
- The online doctor service costs €20 and can provide a 6 month repeat prescription in many instances.
- A simple four-step process will allow you to receive prescribed medication quickly and conveniently.
- If for any reason a prescription can’t be issued the €20 charge will be refunded. (This does not apply to the GP Phone Consultation service)
GP Phone Consultation
- This service is not for emergencies and may take one to two hours for a response.
- The cost of this particular service is €30 and is non-refundable.
- smartScripts will collect some information about your health, medical history, and lifestyle through their online form.
- As soon as the doctor has reviewed your information they will contact you by phone on a number that suits you.
- Once the doctor has completed the phone call consultation they’re able to forward a prescription directly to Foley’s Chemist.
- While this service will do its very best to help, there are limitations to this service.
- Please note that even if the medical team can’t prescribe medication, the consultation charge will not be refunded.

FAQ
How does the Online Doctor Service work?
- Select the treatment you require.
- Fill out the questionnaire.
- A registered doctor will review your details and once approved, the doctor will email your prescription to Foley’s Chemist.
- We’ll get your prescription ready for you.
How long will it take?
- An Irish registered smartScripts doctor will review and issue a prescription usually within two hours. If it is not appropriate to issue a prescription based on the consultation, the €20 charge will be refunded to your card automatically.
How will I know when my prescription is ready?
- One of our pharmacists will contact you to discuss the prescription and answer any of your questions about how to use the medication prescribed.
- They will let you know the cost of the medication and when it will be ready.
How do I pay for my medication?
- One of our pharmacists will call you for a brief consultation on your prescription.
- We can take payment by phone or we can send you a secure payment link by email or SMS.
- For prescription collection, you can pay in the chemist on collection.
Can I get a repeat prescription?
- Yes, depending on the condition being treated, repeat prescriptions can be for as long as six months.
- The cost for the service is always €20 including single or repeat prescriptions.
Can I get my prescription medication delivered?
- Due to the current Covid-19 Pandemic, many people are self isolating or restricting their movements.
- We can deliver your prescription nationwide next day* with DPD for €5.
- Just send us an email with your delivery address and phone number to info@foleyschemist.ie and we’ll reply with a link for you to pay.
- *Next day delivery on prescription orders before 12pm.
What if my condition is not listed?
- If your condition is not listed you can choose the GP Phone Consultation Service.
- This service is not for emergencies and may take an hour or two to receive a response.
- The cost of this service is €30 and is non-refundable.

Will my GP know if I use smartScripts?
- This is optional. During the ordering process you will be given the option to share your GP’s information with us.
- If you choose to do this smartScripts can forward a summary of your treatment onto your own GP.
- We recommend all patient to keep their GP informed of any changes to the medication they are taking.
- smartScripts will never contact your GP without your consent or share your details with anyone.
Where are the smartScripts doctors based?
- The doctors at smartScripts are all registered in Ireland with the Irish Medical Council.
Are my payments secure?
- All payments are processed using industry-standard protection.
- smartScripts payments are handled by Stripe, Inc.
