How It Works

Caya Gel provides a two-pronged layer of protection when used alongside a barrier contraceptive. First, its thick, viscous cellulose formula creates an additional physical seal at the cervix, helping to ensure no sperm can bypass the diaphragm. Second, its lactic acid base lowers the vaginal pH to a level that is inhospitable to sperm, significantly reducing their motility and survivability. Together with the diaphragm’s silicone barrier, this creates a reliable triple protection system against unwanted pregnancy.

A Cleaner Alternative to Traditional Spermicide

Conventional spermicides rely on nonoxynol-9 (N-9), a chemical surfactant also found in industrial cleaning products. N-9 works by attacking and breaking down cell membranes — and it doesn’t discriminate, targeting sensitive vaginal tissue just as readily as sperm. Important Usage Notes

Caya Gel must always be used together with a diaphragm or cervical cap — it is not an effective contraceptive on its own. It does not protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
