GLYCEROL 1G SUPPOSITORIES FOR INFANTS (12)
Glycerol 1g Suppositories for Infants are used as a stimulant laxative specifically for the treatment of constipation in infants.
Stimulant laxatives stimulate the nerves of the lower intestine increasing gut motility which provides rapid relief from constipation. Stimulant laxatives may cause abdominal cramping and diarrhoea. Stimulant laxatives should not be used regularly.
When suffering from constipation first encourage your child to eat high- fibre foods and drink plenty of foods before using a stimulant laxative.
Directions for use:
For infants from 1 month to 1 year of age,
- Wash your hands
- Lay your child to one side
- Gently hold one buttock to the side so as to see the back passage
- Use your finger to gently insert the suppository about 2cm up into the back passage.
- Your child should remain lying down for at least 15 minutes to allow the suppository to work
Please consult your doctor if no relief occurs. Do not insert another suppository
